HeatX warrants that each new stainless steel heat exchanger it supplies will be free from defects in materials and workmanship, under normal use and service in the application described on the quotation, for one year. Where your quotation or order acknowledgment states a different period, that period applies.
The warranty covers the heat exchanger as supplied: the pressure-containing parts, the heat transfer surface, factory welds and braze joints, gaskets and seals as installed, and the finish specified on the order. It does not cover equipment supplied by others, field piping, controls, insulation or installation labor.
Material and application review
Every unit we quote is sized and its material grade selected from the fluids, concentrations, flows, temperatures, pressures and water chemistry the purchaser gives us. The warranty assumes that information was accurate and that the exchanger is operated within it. Corrosion, pitting, cracking, erosion or fouling caused by a fluid, concentration, temperature or chloride level different from what was disclosed is outside this warranty, because the grade was chosen for the duty that was described.
Where a purchaser specifies the grade, construction or finish against our written recommendation, the warranty covers workmanship and conformance to the specification but not the suitability of the specified material for the service.
What is excluded
The following are not covered, whether they occur alone or in combination:
- Damage from freezing, water hammer, overpressure, thermal shock or operation above the nameplate design conditions.
- Corrosion or cracking from chlorides, acids, caustics, oxidizers or other chemistry not disclosed at the time of order.
- Fouling, scaling, plugging or erosion from solids, fibers, biological growth or velocities outside the sizing basis.
- Gasket, seal or braze failure from a cleaning chemical, CIP temperature or SIP cycle not stated on the order.
- Damage from incorrect installation, unsupported piping loads, missing expansion provision, lack of maintenance, accident or misuse.
- Damage in shipment, which is claimed against the carrier.
- Any unit modified or repaired by anyone other than HeatX or a party we authorize in writing; routine opening for cleaning or regasketing per the manual is permitted.
Making a claim
Notify HeatX in writing within the warranty period and as soon as practical after the defect is discovered, quoting the serial number from the nameplate, the date placed in service, the operating conditions at the time of failure and a description of what was observed. Photographs of the failure and a current analysis of the fluids on each side shorten the review considerably.
Do not return a unit without a written return authorization. We may ask to inspect the exchanger in place, to have it returned at our instruction, or to receive the failed component for examination. A unit returned without authorization, or after unauthorized disassembly, may not be examined.
Remedy
If a defect in materials or workmanship is confirmed, HeatX will provide technical help and, at its option, repair the exchanger or replace it with an equivalent unit at no additional cost. Repair or replacement does not extend the original warranty period. Removal, reinstallation, freight to our location, downtime, loss of product and consequential costs of any kind are not included in the remedy.
Limitation of liability
This warranty is in place of all other warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, except where such a disclaimer is not permitted by law. HeatX's total liability on any claim arising from a heat exchanger it supplied shall not exceed the purchase price of that exchanger. In no event is HeatX liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost production or lost profit.
